Food Bank Thanks Walnut Creek Whole Foods Shoppers

The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano received a $88K donation from fundraiser at local Whole Foods Markets.

Whole Foods Market in Walnut Creek recently presented a check in the amount of $88,632.73 to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

The money was donated by Whole Food shoppers at their Lafayette, San Ramon and Walnut Creek stores during their Feed 4 More campaign.

During this annual campaign, shoppers are encouraged to make donations at the checkout stands. The dollar amount reflected an increase of an astonishing 69% from the donation last year.

“As summer nears, so does the fear for many parents that they will not have enough food to feed their children, nor themselves, over the school break,” said Larry Sly, Executive Director of the Food Bank. “Food donations often slow down during the summer months, so this money comes at a great time. The funds raised will provide more than 177,000 meals for local families. We are honored to have Whole Foods Markets and their very generous customers as supporters.”
