Fortune 500: Walnut Creek Company Continues Climb
The company hasn't cracked the Top 500 yet, but it climbed several slots this year. Here's the link for job openings. (No more commuting!)
WALNUT CREEK, CA — Fortune Magazine has released its annual list of the 500 top companies in America, which represent two-thirds of the U.S. GDP and have a total of $13.7 trillion in revenue, the magazine says. Central Garden & Pet, headquartered in Walnut Creek, hasn't made it into the Top 500, but it's now ranked at 928, up from 947 last year.
Central Garden & Pet has more than 5,000 employees, selling garden and pet supplies.
The company currently has more than 100 jobs open nationwide, including human resources and marketing research positions in Walnut Creek.

Fortune explains that it ranks companies by total revenue and Walmart topped the 2019 list, followed by Exxon Mobil and Apple. Berkshire Hathaway and Amazon ranked No.4 and No.5, rounding out the top five spots on the list.

To put the list in context, Fortune writes that just a tenth of the companies on the list are responsible for nearly half of the total $13.7 trillion in revenue. (You can read more in detail about the list via Fortune here.)
