Free E-Waste Disposal In Walnut Creek Saturday, Sunday

Do you have electronic junk stashed in drawers, closets, boxes and the garage? It's time to get rid of it — for free!

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Do you have old TVs, laptops, desktops, monitors, small appliances, and enough miscellaneous cords to wrap around the earth twice? It's time to get rid of electronic waste.

A free recycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek.

Your cast-offs can be in working condition or true junk.

Most electronics or electric appliances with a cord or circuit board are accepted for free, such as:

  • desktop
  • laptop
  • server
  • tablet
  • computer peripheral (mouse and keyboard)
  • CRT/LCD computer monitor
  • television set
  • cellphone and accessories
  • small appliances
  • home entertainment system
  • stereos
  • fax/printer/copier
  • consumer electronics (VCR/VCD/DVD player)
  • rechargeable batteries
  • misc. items

There will be a $10 charge for the following items:

  • disk drive destruction service
  • microwave ovens
  • A/C units

These items will not be accepted:

  • batteries
  • light bulbs
  • fluorescent lamps
  • auto liquids
  • liquid chemicals

Directions for the drop-off: enter Broadway Plaza Street and turn into the ZARA Drive Lane, which is located between ZARA and the construction site across from Macy's. Follow the lane into the Main Street Parking Garage, where event representatives will be available to help.
