Gunman, 2 Companions Try To Carjack Walnut Creek Man: Police

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Three teenagers, including one armed with a gun, tried to carjack a Walnut Creek man Sunday evening. He was able to get away and contact police.

A search of the area that included the assistance of a CHP Air Unit did not result in any arrests.

Police say the victim was sitting in his car around 8 p.m. near Walnut Heights Elementary School. As he waited for a friend, three teens approached the car. "One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the driver and ordered him to exit his vehicle," police report.

The victim drove away and contacted police once he reached a safe location.

Police ask residents in the area of Walnut Heights Elementary to check their home surveillance video for teens matching the following descriptions:

  • all 17-18 years old.
  • one wearing a blue hoodie.
  • one wearing a gray hoodie.
  • no clothing description is available for the third suspect.
