Heads Up, Walnut Creek: DUI Checkpoint Planned Friday Night
The operation will go until 2 a.m. on Saturday.

The Walnut Creek Police Department will be holding a DUI checkpoint beginning Friday night and into early Saturday at Lawrence Way north of Parkside Drive, near the on-ramp to Northbound 680.
Here is the press release submitted by the department:
“In 2013, the Walnut Creek Police Department (WCPD) launched a partnership with the Center for Human Development (CHD) aimed at reducing underage drinking. Several projects have taken place in the past two years working towards that goal.

“The next project will take place this Friday March 6th at 9:00pm when the WCPD will conduct a sobriety checkpoint.
“The purpose of the checkpoint is to provide education regarding drinking and driving, as well as reduce the number of impaired drivers within the city limits.

“The sobriety checkpoint will be located on Lawrence Way north of Parkside Drive, near the on-ramp to Northbound 680. Hours of operation will be approximately 9:00pm until 2:00am.
“WCPD encourages anyone who intends to drink, to make plans to have a ‘designated driver’ or arrange to take a cab ride home. WCPD appreciates everyone’s support and help at making our streets safe from impaired drivers.”
