Horrific Crash Kills One In Walnut Creek

WALNUT CREEK, CA — One driver was killed in Walnut Creek Tuesday night when his car entered the center divide on Treat Boulevard, rolled several times, and then slammed broadside into an SUV coming in the opposite direction, according to Walnut Creek Police. The driver of the SUV suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Witnesses told investigators the car was speeding before the crash.

"Officers from the WCPD Major Accident Investigation Team were called out to investigate the collision," police said in a written statement. "The final collision cause will be dependent on toxicology results from the coroner's office."

The crash was reported at 9:19 p.m. It happened between Sheppard Road and Cherry Lane.
