Las Lomas High School Jazz Band wins 1st place at Jazz Festivals

Las Lomas Jazz Band took 1st place and received the highest score of all participating big bands at Jazz Festivals. Congratulations!

Congratulations to the Las Lomas Jazz Band on two successful weekends of Jazz. The ensembles performed at the 1st annual El Cerrito Jazz Festival on February 7, and the 40th annual Campana Jazz Festival on February 14. At the Campana Jazz Festival, the ensemble took 1st place in the top division (high school big bands), and received the highest score of all of the big bands participating. The trombone section earned 2nd place in the high school section awards, and the sophomore combo Atomic Jazz earned 3rd place in the high school combo division. Individual awards/scholarships for outstanding playing went to: Alan Osmundson, Matt Richards, Sarah Chow, Philip Amur, Pete Cerdan, Dylan Sleeper, and Darion Sales. Alan Osmundson also was awarded the top trumpet player award at the El Cerrito festival, and was invited to play with the guest group: the Alan Ferber Big Band. Congratulations to the band for such an outstanding playing experience!
