Loaded Handgun Seized At Walnut Creek High School
The gun was found in a student's backpack at Las Lomas High School Thursday morning.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — A loaded handgun was found in a student's backpack at Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek on Wednesday, according to the police department. The student, who has not been identified, was arrested for being in possession of a loaded firearm and transported to the police department.
Police placed the school on lock-down until they determined the campus was safe.
This all started shortly before 11:15 a.m. when police received a report that the student had a concealed handgun at school. A school resource officer was on campus when the report was received and quickly tracked down the student. A search of the backpack turned up the gun.
