Mail Theft: Walnut Creek Pair Indicted, Fed Prosecutors Say

If convicted on all charges, they face decades in prison and more than $1 million in fines.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Tyler Goforth and Jesslyn Felix were indicted on federal charges of stealing mail containing credit cards, debit cards, gift cards and drivers licenses, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The Walnut Creek pair are alleged to have activated the cards to make purchases for themselves.

Goforth and Felix, both 35, were indicted on Jan. 15, and the indictment was unsealed Friday.

The thefts took place between August of 2017 and February of 2018, according to prosecutors. The pair is accused of going to a 600-condominium apartment complex in San Francisco using an electronic key fob and then using a tool to unlock and open the door to the residents’ mailboxes.
