Man Arrested In Parking Lot of Walnut Creek Preschool
The search for a man seen running with a gun ended in arrest Thursday morning.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Walnut Creek Police arrested a man in the parking lot of Springfield Montessori School on Mitchell Drive Thursday morning. Alexander Guerrero, 29, of Oakland is being held on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a Glock handgun and narcotics violations.
The police department reports that it received multiple phone calls about a man seen with a gun inside a medical building in the 2600 block of Shadelands Drive.
One caller, around 10:15, said the man was running north through a parking lot toward Mitchell Drive. Two nearby schools, Contra Costa School for the Performing Arts and Valle Verde, were put on as a precaution.

Patrol officers and detectives found him in the parking lot of the Montessori school and took him into custody. He had narcotics on him, but no gun.
"Two of our K9 teams were called to the scene to assist in locating the gun," police said in a release. "Our police dogs, with their keen sense of smell, have specialized training that includes searching for articles related to a crime scenes. Our K9 Remus alerted his handler to some nearby bushes along the path the man had taken before his arrest. Officers searched the bushes and located a loaded Glock pistol."
