Marijuana In Walnut Creek: City Council To Decide Regulations

Plans are in progress, with voting expected later this month.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — The City of Walnut Creek is sorting out how to handle legalization of marijuana. City Council will take up the issue on June 19.

According to City Manager Dan Buckshi, the proposal has multiple facets. Council will consider regulation of personal cultivation of marijuana on residential property. It also looks to prohibit cannabis operations in the city. However, the city plans an exception to the prohibition, which "would allow for up to two medical cannabis delivery service businesses located in areas away from schools, youth centers and day care centers," according to Buckshi.

If approved, council members will also consider the selection process for those businesses, along with regulations and fees.
