Miss Contra Costa County partnering with Arlie Smith & Costco Danville for CMN

Support the #MissAmerica & #MissCalifornia platform of #ChildrensMiracleNetwork.

Danville, CA – Miss Contra Costa County, Angela Laird, has spent the last 7 months tirelessly prepping for the upcoming Miss California State Competition. Laird was diagnosed with Lyme Disease back in 2010 and is an advocate for Lyme Disease Prevention and Awareness. However, when she heard Arlie Smith’s story from her Executive Director, Paula Gross, she knew she had to redirect her time and efforts and help Arlie’s Angels.

You may have heard Arlie’s story in the news the past month and how his personal goal is to raise $1 million dollars for Children’s Miracle Network. Most would think that that goal is a bit lofty however, Arlie is a special person with a big heart and if anyone can hit that goal it IS him. His courageous fight with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and terminal bone cancer encourage and inspire those around him to live each day to the fullest and to give back where they can. His infectious smile and laugh brighten not only his coworker’s day but customers who are lucky enough to go through his line at the Danville Costco. “The great part about helping Arlie and Arlie’s Angel’s is that each dollar raised stays right here in our local Children’s Hospital in Oakland,” said Laird.

Angela, Arlie, and Costco will be raising funds for Children’s Miracle Network this coming Saturday, May 16th all day. Come by between 10am-2pm to meet Miss Contra Costa County take a picture, make a donation, do some shopping, chat with Arlie and Angela about Children’s Hospital and make a difference. “Arlie is a special person and from knowing him the past few years it is with great honor that our program gets to help him and Children’s Hospital,” stated Executive Director, Paula Gross.
