About The Ruth Bancroft Garden: Open to the public Tuesday – Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the 3.5 acre Ruth Bancroft Garden is filled with thousands of stunning succulents. It is at 1552 Bancroft Road in Walnut Creek.
Ruth started the Garden, adjacent to her home, in 1972 with one-gallon pots of a wide variety of succulents, many of which are still part of the Garden.
Opened to the public in the early 1990s, the Garden is an outstanding example of a water-conserving garden, appropriate for its Mediterranean climate, and its staff are internationally respected authorities on succulents and dry gardens. The Garden houses important collections of aloes, agaves, yuccas, and echeverias.
