New Utility Box Paintings Brighten Walnut Creek

Waiting at traffic lights is easier when you have beautiful artwork to admire!

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Have you noticed the newly painted utility boxes around town? Eight boxes have been transformed from drab to fab, thanks to Walnut Creek’s third annual Utility Box Project on Community Service Day.

The paintings are sponsored by Walnut Creek Downtown (WCD) and the City of Walnut Creek.

The paintings are actually weather-resistant vinyl wraps. They bring to 29 the number of decorated boxes in town. According to Walnut Creek Downtown, "Participating artists received a $150 stipend, credit on the utility box artwork, and inclusion in the Bedford Gallery’s ongoing Public Art Walking Tours."
