Off Target: Bikes in the Dumpster
Patch reader saw more than 20 new-looking bikes in the dumpster at Walnut Creek Target; no explanation yet from Target management.

Patch reader Serena Martin saw an odd thing at in Walnut Creek Monday.
Near the old garden center building, she noticed a dumpster filled with what appeared to be 20 to 30 bikes.
"I contacted Target to find out what was going on and was given a bit of a runaround and never really did receive a clear answer," Martin said. "I'm still not sure whether the bikes were faulty in some way and therefore discarded or if they were overstock. Either way, my issue is that Target is opting to send the bikes to a landfill rather than find a more appropriate solution to whatever the problem is with the bikes. If the bikes are faulty in some way, then perhaps they could be donated to one of the many bike organizations that rebuild bikes for needy children."
Good question. Walnut Creek Patch called the Walnut Creek Target and they referred us to the "Target Media Hotline" at corporate HQ in Minnesota. We've got a call in to the hotline looking for an explanation of the bikes in the dumpster.
Did anyone else notice the bikes in the dumpster? Tell us in the comments please.
