Police-Involved Shooting Under Investigation At Walnut Creek Home Near School

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Authorities are investigating a police-involved shooting in Walnut Creek.

One person was reported dead after a shooting at about midnight near Buena Vista Elementary School.

The Walnut Creek Police Department reported that an officer fired a weapon in the area of Alvarado and Buena Vista avenues shortly after 12:30 a.m.

One person died in the shooting that happened outside of a house, according to early reports.

Police blocked surrounding streets as officers secured the scene outside a home at 1907 Alvarado Ave., where video footage showed a heavy law enforcement presence and a covered body, according to KTVU. Residents reported hearing multiple gunshots and said officers instructed neighbors to remain inside their homes.
