'Opera Lite' Series Extended at Walnut Creek Marriott
Back by popular demand. The upcoming performance is free with a one-drink minimum.

Festival Opera’s popular ‘Opera Lite’ series now holds a permanent spot on Walnut Creek’s entertainment calendar, with a live performance on the last Thursday of each month at Atrio in the Walnut Creek Marriott.
No cover charge, one drink minimum; special prix fixe dinner menu and beverage specials also available for a full evening of musical fun.
Coming up on Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. is ‘A Musical Journey,’ with cabaret-style performances that explore the world through popular songs and opera selections.

Featured Bay Area opera stars Sara Duchovnay and Christopher Bengochea will be joined by piano accompanist Danielle Naler.

Bengochea is a critically-acclaimed and prize winning international opera tenor and former resident artist of Opera San José. He’s also sung principal roles at Atlanta Opera, Opera Idaho, Opera Canada, Townsend Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Livermore Valley Opera, West Bay Opera, Teatro Felice, Festival Opera, and Opera Santa Barbara.
Duchovnay originated the role of Dorothea in Allen Shearer’s opera Middlemarch in Spring, which premiered in San Francisco in March 2015. In May, Sara returns to Pacific Opera Project, where she will sing Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, followed by her debut with Festival Opera singing the role of Najade in Ariadne auf Naxos. She has sung principal roles in West Edge Opera’s production of Philip Glass and Allen Ginsberg’s opera Hydrogen Jukebox and Nannetta in Falstaff for Opera Jose, among others.
