In Walnut Creek: Piano and Flute Concert

Dwight Stone, piano, and Nika Rejto, flute, will perform original compositions.

On Saturday June 20 at 7 p.m., celebrated pianist Dwight Stone and flutist Nika Rejto will present a free concert at Grace Presbyterian Church. The evening concert will feature original compositions for flute and piano, and for piano solo. Grace Presbyterian Church is located at 2100 Tice Valley Blvd. in Walnut Creek.

Stone’s compositional style is enticing and inspiring, a different idiom, modern yet pleasing, and acclaimed by audiences in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Europe. His duet “Amsterdam” has proven to be immensely popular, and his piano solo “Eye on the Prize” won first place in the recent Music Teachers’ Association of California State Composition Competition. Stone’s compositions reflect his experience in all facets of music, including vocal, choral, brass, orchestra, guitar, and piano. He is an accomplished vocalist and performer on piano, and a conductor with nearly a dozen recordings to his credit. Stone says, “It’s especially nice to be recognized and acknowledged as a composer.”

After degrees in voice and composition, Stone attended the USC Film Scoring program, launching him on a 20-year career as a freelance musician in Los Angeles. From 2007 to 2010 he lived in Austria, composing and recording CDs, performing in concerts and salons, as well as in castles Hartberg, Murau, and Kirchberg am Walde. Stone currently lives in Walnut Creek where he is President of the Contra Costa Performing Arts Society and Director of Music Ministry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
