The Police Department is in the process of planning for both of these events and will provide updates as new information is received.
June 17, 2020
The Police Department is monitoring social media activity advertising a youth lead protest march in Walnut Creek tonight. It appears the march is to start as early as 5:00 p.m. and as late as 9:00 p.m. The route the protestors plan to take is unknown at this time. The organizers are encouraging participants to march through neighborhoods with pots and pans in an effort to make a lot of noise.

If you are an organizer of this event or are a participant, please reach out to Sergeant Jower at jower@walnutcreekpd.com, so we can work together and put measures in place to ensure a safe event for everyone. We are happy to work with peaceful protestors to help ensure your safety and the safety of the community while expressing your 1st Amendment Rights.
In addition to this march, we are also monitoring information regarding potential looting in the downtown retail district. At the moment, it appears the group is advocating this activity tonight at 9:00 p.m. Although we do not know if this threat is credible, we are encouraging business owners to take precautions to protect their employees and businesses.
