Prima Vini Introduces Craft Spirits in Walnut Creek Retail Shop

It takes a lot of hard work to keep a business fresh after 37 years. There must be continual innovation, a constant adaptation of current trends and most importantly, an open mind when hearing customer feedback. Throughout the last year we have been asked a lot of questions about starting a spirits program at Prima Vini. While most of these comments were made in passing, we decided that we have the knowledge and resources to make the most unique spirits selection in town. So we did our research and spoke to our customers about what they’d like to see, and we got cracking.

Almost in his second year of employment here, Peter Andrews, CSS, CSW, MBA, came to Prima Vini from Barrington, RI. It was there that Peter, a Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS), planned and opened up a craft-spirits oriented store that won back-to-back Best Wine & Spirits Shop in RI in its first two years of business.

It is now Peter’s goal to bring his experience in building an award-winning craft spirits selection to Prima and Walnut Creek.

With over 80 different spirits in stock ranging from light to dark and everything in between, Prima is filling a void that Walnut Creek has been yearning for. One of the spirits that Peter is particularly excited about is the Berkshire Mountain Distillers Ethereal Gin Batch #10.

The Ethereal Gin is an homage to Peter’s roots in New England. Berkshire Mountain Distillers are based in western Massachusetts and only use local grains and Appalachian Mountain Water in their distillation process. BMD take’s their year-round Greylock Gin and adds several different seasonal botanicals to make every batch unique. Batch #10 is finished with Hibiscus, Lime and Lavender. Just imagine the fun cocktails you can conjure with a spirit like that!

Needless to say, Prima is extremely excited about their selection and to release these quality spirits to Walnut Creek and beyond. Home Mixologist’s rejoice, you finally have a resource in the East Bay!
