Protests In Downtown Walnut Creek Set For Wednesday, Thursday Afternoons

Downtown Walnut Creek will have the Wednesday-Thursday two-step of protests the next two evenings.

At a busy shopping crossroads in town, Mount Diablo Boulevard and Main Street, there will be Wall Street to Main Street protests at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and a candlelight rally at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the southwest corner of that intersection (which we could call the Tiffany corner).

The regular Wednesday afternoon has been moved up to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to take advantage of daylight.

The Thursday candlelight rally is part of a national Day of Action from the Rebuild the American Dream Campaign organized by MoveOn.

"Our democratic government has been replaced with a plutocracy — money rules," stated Sally Weed of Walnut Creek in a Central Contra Costa American Dream/MoveOn Council.  "Help us wake up our government before our economy completely crumbles - we're on the brink. Let's get our democracy back."
