Interested in getting more involved in your community? Deadline to apply is Wednesday, Oct. 9.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — The City of Walnut Creek has vacant spots on its Planning and Transportation commissions, and civic-minded residents are encouraged to apply.
The Planning Commission reviews projects for compliance with land use and zoning regulations and has approval authority for subdivision maps, use permits and variances, the city said.
Commissioners also are involved with the City’s General Plan and various Specific Plans, preparing and making recommendations of those plans to the City Council.

"The innovative projects and developments taking shape around Walnut Creek first go through the public hearing process at the Planning Commission," officials said.
The Transportation Commission, meanwhile, advises City Council on issues that affect transportation and parking. Public testimony was recently heard by commissioners on a recent “Complete Street” pop-up project on Lincoln Avenue. Under consideration this month will be an improvement plan that will guide how people move through Shadelands Business Park and connect to surrounding transportation.
