Rossmoor Shopping Center Teardown Under Consideration

Plans call for demolishing one of the larger buildings and replacing it with a smaller anchor store. City Council will consider it Tuesday.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — One of the larger buildings at the Rossmoor Shopping Center could be demolished in the near future, with plans to eventually build a slightly smaller building there to accommodate an anchor tenant, according to a city staff report.

That report comes as part of the Walnut Creek City Council packet for the regular Tuesday night meeting, where council members are scheduled to decide whether to rezone the shopping center on Tice Valley Boulevard to enable to demolition.

The space where "Building 1930" now is would be used temporarily as a staging area for construction equipment used in the ongoing upgrade of the shopping center, near the Rossmoor retirement community.
