San Ramon Dad Arrested After Child Brought Gun To School
Police said the Twin Creeks Elementary School third-grader brought the loaded 9mm firearm in a backpack on Tuesday.

SAN RAMON, CA — A San Ramon father has been arrested after his 8-year-old son allegedly brought a handgun to school. Police said the Twin Creeks Elementary School third-grader brought the loaded 9mm firearm on campus on Tuesday.
Anthony O’Donnell, 30, was taken into custody after San Ramon police officials searched the student’s home and allegedly found the gun in the student’s backpack.
O’Donnell was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property, child endangerment and criminal storage of a firearm accessible to child. He was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility in Contra Costa County.

The student is facing disciplinary action, according to a letter sent to parents Wednesday from San Ramon Valley Unified School District spokeswoman Elizabeth Graswich.
“The San Ramon Police Department would like to remind everybody to speak with their children about firearms safety and reporting suspicious activities right away,” police said in a statement. “Also, firearms safety applies to everybody. Failing to properly store a firearm that is accessible to a child is a criminal offense.”

A high school student in Pleasanton was arrested this week after he allegedly brought a loaded gun onto the school campus. In Milpitas, a report of a student with a gun on campus led to a brief lockdown and arrest.
