Scholarship Goes to Las Lomas Senior
Callard Cowdery, destined for college in Scotland, is the winner of the Michael W. DeSa Memorial Scholarship.

Las Lomas High senior Callard Cowdery is the winner of the $2,000 Michael W. DeSa Memorial Scholarship.
The scholarship, presented on Senior Awards Night on May 24, is for well-rounded graduates of the Walnut Creek schools (attending K-12) who nurture life’s passions both in school and outside the confines of academia, through service in the community and other pursuits.
According to a notice on the Walnut Creek Education Foundation website, Cowdery:
- is planning to attend the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and major in international relations and foreign languages.
- has studied two foreign languages, played lacrosse and coached youth teams in soccer, and has been a student ambassador for the World Affairs Council of Northern California.
The scholarship was set up from donations made in the name of Walnut Creek Superintendent Mike DeSa, who died in 2006.
