WALNUT CREEK, CA — Are you ready to explore the beautiful trails and wildlife in Shell Ridge? The Walnut Creek Open Space Foundation in Shell Ridge will be the focus of this month's free 2nd Saturday Spotlight.

According to the online information page, "It has been more than 35 years since Walnut Creek residents voted to protect the open space hills and to tax themselves to fund the purchase of these lands. Come join us on Saturday, April 13, as the 2nd Saturday Spotlight celebrates the legacy of our open space. Explore the work of the Walnut Creek Open Space Foundation in Shell Ridge, and learn about the history of the community-focused open space work, as well as the Lakewood neighborhood that 'led the charge.'"

It will take place from 9 to 11:45 a.m. It is absolutely free, but register in advance online. You'll get details on where to meet. Wear comfortable walking shoes!
