Sign-Ups Underway for East Bay's Stars and Stripes 5K Run and Walk

News from Stars & Stripes 5K Run & Walk:

The Concord Police Association is honored to present our 6th Annual Stars & Stripes 5K Run & Walk on Saturday, July 4th, benefiting both the Monument Crisis Center and Bay Area Crisis Nursery.

The race has been growing each year with over 800 participants in 2014. We are preparing for even more participants this year running and walking a 3.1 mile route that you are sure to enjoy!

Your 5K entry fee includes a goody bag with great freebies, gift certificates, coupons and a Brenden Theaters movie ticket! You will also receive a race t-shirt with a cool patriotic design! (we are also offering dri-fit race shirts in lieu of the standard cotton race shirts for an extra $7.00.)

We have prizes too! Top male & female finishers receive Roadrunner Sports shoe certificates valued at $120, 2nd & 3rd place finishers receive Sports Basement gift cards & age group winner medals for the men & ladies.

Entry fee is $25.00 postmarked/or on-line by June 1st, $30.00 postmarked by June 30th or until July 3rd, on-line by 8am PST. We will also be doing in person registration for the 5K and Kids Fun Run at packet picket up, Friday, July 3rd 11am-2pm & 4pm-7pm at RoadRunner Sports, 1975 Diamond Bl. Concord.

Race shirts are not guaranteed after June 30th.

(UPDATE from June 21: If you haven’t registered and are looking to get a Dri-Fit shirt ($7 upgrade), you must order online with Active.com (link below) by 11:59 pm on June 25th, or in-store at Road Runner Sports in Concord or Sports Basement in Walnut Creek, by close of business on June 25th. Dri-fit shirts will not be guaranteed on registrations received after that date/time! Time is “running” out! Register today! The ABSOLUTE LAST in-store (Road Runner and Sports Basement) registration date is June 29th.)

The festivities start at 7AM with day of registration and goody bag pick up, music and sponsors’ booths.

The FREE Kids Fun Run sponsored by Sports Basement, Sky High Sports and Chili’s will be held at 8:00am followed by the 5K at 8:15am. Our own home baseball team mascot, Stomper the Elephant from the Oakland A’s will be on hand to visit with the kids, pose for photos and start off both races, greeting the kids as they cross the finish line for the Kid’s Fun Run. Uncle Sam from the Singing Flag will also be joining us!

We will have 2 water stops/aid stations on the course at miles 1 & 2 and a ton of delicious and refreshing post-race goodies at the finish. Before & after the race, enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast from 7am-11am hosted by Concord-Diablo Rotary for $5.00 then grab a spot to watch Concord’s entertaining 4th of July Parade starting at 10am, complete with floats, bands, equestrian & dance teams and more!
