Smoke Drifting Over Walnut Creek Today Caused By Controlled Burn In Moraga

The Moraga-Orinda Fire District is conducting a controlled burn today, with winds bringing some of the smoke into the Walnut Creek and Lafayette area. No cause for alarm, it is a planned effort to reduce fuels before fire season. The burn should be wrapped up by 5:00 p.m.

This is designed to reduce fuels in the area, provide live fire training for firefighters, and make the area safer during the upcoming fire season. Substantial safety precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of the community.
