Sprouts & Shutters: Liquor Store Closes in Walnut Creek

A liquor store in eastern Walnut Creek has abruptly closed up shop.

M & M Cork & Bottle has papered over its windows and put up a "closed" sign at its location in the Encina Grande shopping center at Oak Grove and Ygnacio Valley Road.

The liquor store had been a fixture in the shopping center for more than two decades.

There are major changes proposed for the shopping center, including the Safeway store moving across Ygnacio Valley Road into what is now an open field and the move of the Walgreen's store to the eastern corner of the center, where the pharmacy hopes to have a drive-through window.
