Stolen Vehicle: K9 Officer Zeus Helps Nab Suspects

K9 Officer Zeus assisted in the arrest of 2 men on his first day on the job. The stolen vehicle was recovered.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — An Automated License Plate Reader alerted Walnut Creek Police dispatchers to a stolen vehicle.

K-9 Zeus, on his first day on the job, was dispatched to search the area along with his human handler, Officer Villa.

Villa gets credit for spotting the vehicle. With backup from Zeus and a Contra Costa County Sheriff's vehicle, a high risk stop was made.

Julio Santiago and Juan Almarezrodriguez were arrested for suspicion of vehicle theft. They were boooked at the county jail in Martinez.

Zeus is a one-year-old Belgian Malinois who was born in Slovakia. He's been training with WCPD since July.
