Oakland Woman Tried Helping Lover Cover Up Double Murder In Walnut Creek: D.A.

Police arrested an Oakland woman in connection with the fatal shooting of two women in Walnut Creek on Aug. 18.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Police arrested a second person in connection with the deaths of two women in Walnut Creek.

Detectives arrested Yan Wang near her home in Oakland. She is being held with no bail for at the Martinez Detention Facility for accessory after the fact, first degree residential burglary, and destroying evidence, according to police.

The 45-year-old was scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. today in Contra Costa Superior
Court in Martinez. She faces two felony and one misdemeanor charges related to the murders of
Linlin Guo and Beimin Cheng.

Police said she is the girlfriend of Howard Wang, 43, of Walnut Creek.

The Walnut Creek Police Department arrested Wang on Sept. 19.

He was charged with the unlawful killing of the Guo and Cheng.

Wang was married to Guo, but was in a romantic relationship with Yan Wang at the time of the murders, according to the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 3 in Martinez and faces life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted, the D.A.'s office said in a statement.

The D.A.'s office suspects Yan Wang of helping Howard Wang to evade authorities, first degree residential burglary, and destroying cellphones to prevent evidence from being produced.

Police responding to a 911 call on Sept. 18 found the Guo and Cheng at about 11:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Kelobra Court.

Two young children were present when officers arrived. They were taken into the custody of authorities.

The Concord Police Department and the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office helped in the investigation.
