Valle Verde Custodian Dan Cowell Dies

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our dear friend and former custodian Dan Cowell. Dan passed away last Friday after a very brief battle with recently diagnosed cancer. Dan had been a wonderful addition to our staff for many, many years. He loved our school and treated the staff and children with the utmost respect. No job was ever too big or small for him and he always had a smile on his face. It is a great loss to us all. He will always be in the hearts of many Valle Verde families. 

As a school we are planning a special event this Friday February 24th at 8:20 in the morning.  Rick Abbott will be leading the children in a special song tribute to Dan and we will be collecting flowers at this time. The flowers will be collected in vases and later that afternoon taken to the chapel for his funeral to represent the children from our school. For those of you who would like to make a monetary donation, there is a box set up in the office. Dan's services will be held this Friday, February 24th at 1PM at The Oakmont Mortuary in Lafayette. The address is 2099 Reliez Valley Road. Dan's memorial will be held in the Redwood Room of the Chapel. There will be graveside services with a military tribute there. His wife also said there will be a pot luck back at their residence where they have a community room. She has asked if you are attending to help out and please bring a dish to share.
