Walnut Creek Boy With Cerebral Palsy Gets Surprise From Amazon Driver

Ozzy Wedeking's 13th birthday wish came true as his "hero" presented him with an honorary badge & chance to sit in the van's driver seat.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Ozzy Wedeking, a Walnut Creek teen with cerebral palsy, was surprised on his recent 13th birthday with an extra special delivery — literally! —from his "hero," an Amazon driver.

The boy idolizes his neighborhood's delivery drivers, according to his mom, who coordinated a drop-in surprise for Ozzy's birthday in mid-April with local Amazon driver, Alexander Ponce. And Ponce enthusiastically joined in to celebrate the boy on his route, company officials said.

Not only did Ozzy, who is non-verbal, get to meet "a real Amazon driver," he also was treated to an "official" employee driver’s badge, an Amazon delivery vest and hat, plus the chance to tour and sit in the driver’s seat of Ponce's Prime delivery van.

“For him to get to go into the van and meet a driver up close and have his own gear is really just a special treat for him,” said Ozzy's mother, Iris Wedeking.
