Walnut Creek: Collision, Downed Power Lines Block Ygnacio Valley Road

A Monday afternoon collision in Walnut Creek brought down power lines, prompting police to close Ygnacio Valley Road in both directions.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A collision on Monday afternoon in Walnut Creek brought down power lines, prompting police to close down Ygnacio Valley Road in both directions between San Carlos Drive and Bancroft Road.

Walnut Creek Communications and Outreach Manager Betsy Burkhart said there were no injuries and police don't believe drugs or alcohol were involved.

In a post on social media around 12:30 p.m., Walnut Creek police asked motorists to avoid the area.

Monday evening, police said the road was expected to remain closed until sometime between midnight and 3 a.m. Tuesday.
