Walnut Creek Intern Makes Spider Discovery

Dan Sitzmann participated in scientific study of new species in South Dakota.

Dan Sitzmann, 22, of Walnut Creek, was part of an itsy bitsy scientific discovery this summer.

Sitzmann was a summer intern with Brian Patrick, an assistant professor of biology at Dakota Wesleyan University. They discovered three new species of spider in the Fort Pierre National Grasslands as part of a research study.
