Walnut Creek Library Closed Friday, Saturday

Contra Costa County Library officials cited staffing shortages as the reason for the two-day closure.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — The Walnut Creek branch library is closed Friday and Saturday, Aug. 5-6, because of staffing shortages, Contra Costa County Library officials said.

The closures were announced Thursday in a social media post and library officials did not explain the staffing shortages.

"For those who would like to come to a branch in person on Friday or Saturday, please consider one of our other nearby branches, including the new Pleasant Hill Library, Ygnacio Valley, Concord, Clayton, and Lafayette," library officials said.

The Walnut Creek branch at 1644 N. Broadway is typically open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and is closed on Sundays. The library is next open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, according to the library system.
