Walnut Creek Man Arrested For Alleged Assault

The suspect was treated at the hospital before being booked into jail.

WALNUT CREEK, CA —Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies arrested a man suspected of making threats and assaulting another man in an unincorporated area near Oakley on Sunday, according to the sheriff's office.

At about 6 p.m., deputies were called to investigate reports of shots being fired in the 5500 block of Sandmound Boulevard east of Oakley.

When they arrived, they found 50-year-old Richard Fisher of Walnut Creek suffering from an injury, the nature of which sheriff's officials did not disclose.

Fisher, who turned out to be the alleged suspect, was taken to a hospital for treatment and was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats.

He is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on $75,000 bail, sheriff's officials said.

The victim, a 40-year-old man, was not injured.
