Walnut Creek School District Closes For 3 Weeks: Coronavirus
The district sent remote learning materials home with children on Friday.
WALNUT CREEK, CA —The Walnut Creek School District is closed until at least Monday, April 6, in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus, COVID-19, the district announced on Friday. The district will reassess the situation at that time to decide if the closure will be extended.
Teachers have put together a remote learning plan that was sent home with students on Friday.
The district is emphasizing the following:
● During this 3 week period, all school sites will suspend all student activities, including any enrichment classes, events and all facility use agreements. This is effective beginning Saturday, March 14.
● Communicate directly with on site daycare centers regarding their plans for operations during
this time frame.
● During the closure, all school sites will undergo a deep cleaning to ensure safety upon reopening.
● While out of school, students should stay home and minimize social contact as much as
possible to keep caregivers and adult family members safe.
● The District office will be open during the school closure to respond to questions
● Governing Board meetings will continue as scheduled. The County Public Health Department has ordered a limit of 50 attendees.
