White Pony Express Launches Annual Campaign
East Bay residents are asked to give generously to the organization that helps feed the vulnerable.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — White Pony Express, a food rescue organization serving Contra Costa County, launched its 2021 annual campaign on Oct. 1 with a goal of raising $350,000. So far, around $50,000 has been pledged.
Since it began less than a decade ago, White Pony Express has helped more than 120,000 people in Contra Costa County including delivering 18 million pounds of fresh food.

- 42 million Americans face food insecurity in 2021—thirteen million of whom are children.
- Up to 40 percent of the food produced in the U.S. is wasted annually. It would take redistributing only 30 percent of this wasted food to meet the total dietary needs of every food-insecure person in the nation.
- Short and long-term health outcomes of being food insecure include birth defects, anemia, cognitive problems, behavioral problems, anxiety, and aggression.
White Pony Express provides nutritious food, clothing, and goods to more than 80 partner agencies serving the county’s highest need populations.
