Wilk, Wedel Run For Reelection In Walnut Creek
Both would like to continue representing residents on the City Council. Mayor Loella Haskew has not made a formal decision about running.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Kevin Wilk announced Tuesday he will seek a second four-year term on the Walnut Creek City Council.
Councilman Justin Wedel also has announced he will run for reelection, seeking a third four-year term.
Mayor Loella Haskew said this week she plans to take out papers to run again, but has not made a formal decision about whether to seek a third term.

Wilk, an internet marketing director, in 2016 defeated incumbent Bob Simmons.
Wilk said he's running to help guide Walnut Creek through the "local economic collapse" brought on by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, and to do so while maintaining safety protocols.

"I want to make sure that Walnut Creek sets a good example for how we can respond to COVID, but also deal with the virus while still living our lives," Wilk said.
Also, with Walnut Creek in the middle of recent social justice events — Black Lives Matter protests peaceful and otherwise, and the 2019 shooting death of Miles Hall by police — Wilk said he supports diversity and implicit bias training for all Walnut Creek city employees.
"We need to look at better ways to respond to mental crisis issues, and also have more options for unarmed responses to 911 calls," he said.
