Yours Humanly Gives Back to Dublin Schoolchildren

To serve Bay Area kindergartners from subsidized households, Yours Humanly plans to donate backpacks for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year

Yours Humanly, a nonprofit that provides access to education for underprivileged and disadvantaged children around the world, will be serving youths in the Tri-Valley community in California this June 2016.

As budget cuts roll over schools nationwide, the fiscal burden of preparing children for school is now falling onto parents and teachers alike. However, not all families have the financial flexibility that allows them to spend on basic educational tools such as binders, papers, and markers. That, coupled with the soaring costs of back-to-school supplies, is causing more and more children to show up for school underprepared.

The impact to low-income households is especially notable. Inaccessibility to supplies compromises a child's ability to keep up with curriculum and class projects, giving them a disadvantage compared to their more prepared classmates.

That is why Yours Humanly is currently working to address some of the needs of underprivileged children in the Tri-Valley area. To serve Bay Area kindergartners from subsidized households, Yours Humanly plans to donate backpacks for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year to students at Dublin's Kidango Emerald Vista Center.

The donated backpacks will be filled with notebooks, pencils, crayons, and many such items to last the entire school year. Dixon Ticonderoga, renowned manufacturer of the #2 pencil, has been a significant sponsor in support of this initiative. By outfitting children with the proper tools, Yours Humanly believes that they will be better equipped to excel in the classroom.

The event will be held at the Kidango Emerald Vista Center in Dublin, CA on Friday, June 3, 2016. Press and media are encouraged to attend.

Yours Humanly is a non-profit organization and is seeking the community's support on this initiative. To learn how you can become a sponsor, to make a donation, or look for volunteer opportunities with Yours Humanly, please visit their website at www.yourshumanly.org.
