Brothers Arrested On Firearms And Narcotics Sales Allegations

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — Two brothers were arrested in Monterey County on Saturday on allegations of possessing an unregistered ghost gun and cocaine for sale.

Salinas police officers and other law enforcement assigned to the Monterey County Violence Suppression Task Force conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 10000 block of Merritt Street in the unincorporated area of Castroville.

Police allegedly found a privately manufactured .40 caliber firearm in the residence of 27-year-old Oscar Martin Barrera Soto, along with suspected narcotics packaged for sale, according to a statement Sunday from the Salinas Police Department.

Soto was arrested along with his brother, 22-year-old Victor Soto, whose vehicle was also searched at the residence and allegedly contained more suspected cocaine for sale.

The two were booked into Monterey County Jail on firearms and narcotics related allegations.
