MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — The Monterey County Sheriff's Office is investigating two separate incidents involving the discovery of human remains in different parts of the county Saturday morning.
Firefighters, paramedics and sheriff's deputies responded to the 100 block of Struve Road in north Monterey County just before 8:30 a.m. on Saturday after receiving a report that an infant had been found, according to the sheriff's office. Emergency responders confirmed the infant was dead.
About 90 minutes later, at about 10 a.m., sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of Old Stage Road in Salinas after a county employee reported finding what appeared to be human remains.
Sheriff's officials said both cases remain under active investigation and did not release additional details about either incident.
