• A honey of an honor for Rivas Bees (pajaronian.com) — A longtime Watsonville farmworker-turned-beekeeper has been named Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau's 2026 Farmer of the Year, with the award presented at Jacobs Farm del Cabo in Watsonville. After decades in local apple orchards, Anselmo Rivas now runs Rivas Bees, managing hundreds of hives that pollinate regional crops and selling honey in dozens of stores while teaching schools and community groups about bees and agriculture.
