• Man arrested in ATM skimming case (pajaronian.com) — Watsonville police are warning anyone who recently used Bay Federal Credit Union ATMs on Freedom Boulevard or Main Street to check their accounts after skimming devices potentially exposed hundreds of customers' card data. A 22-year-old suspect was arrested in Southern California, but local detectives still want to hear from residents who notice suspicious charges.
   

• A new California law will ban watering decorative grass, even in non-drought years, starting Jan. 1 (star-telegram.com) — A new California law taking effect Jan. 1 will eventually ban watering purely decorative grass at many government, commercial and HOA properties, and Watsonville's K&D Landscaping is already helping local clients prepare. The rules won't touch single-family home lawns or playing fields, but they could force costly landscape changes, so local property owners are urged to plan ahead.
