Community Hero at Salud Para La Gente
Salud Para La Gente, a network of family community health centers based in Watsonville, is proud to recognize Angelica Gileta, a true Community Hero on our Watsonville Outreach staff.
United Way of Santa Cruz County conducts an annual Community Assessment Project to identify and honor individuals who are creating tangible change towards very specific community goals. Goal #7: by the year 2015, 98% of Santa Cruz County Children 0-17 will have comprehensive health care coverage. Ms. Gileta was nominated for the Community Heroes Award and won!

A lifelong resident of Watsonville, Angelica Gileta has been one of Salud’s Community Health Outreach staff since 2009. She says, “Although all the roles I perform as an Outreach Worker are fulfilling to me, The Baby Gateway Program, that connects newborns to Medi-Cal, is particularly rewarding. I am very satisfied with my work because it gives Mom peace of mind. I’m very proud of the Baby Gateway Program, and for me, is has been a privilege to work with everyone involved.”
For over 31 years, as part of its founding mission, Salud Para La Gente has been creating health care access for all, regardless of the ability to pay, at clinics, school-based health centers, and outreach sites in the tri-county region of Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito.
