Armed Robbery Suspects Found Thanks To Victim's iPhone Location
Two teenagers held a Watsonville jogger at gunpoint, but were caught after the victim tracked his iPhone location.
WATSONVILLE, CA —Two teenagers were arrested Saturday after robbing a jogger at gunpoint, police say.
A 26-year-old Watsonville man was jogging in the Watsonville slough, near the extension Ford and Kearney streets extension, when the teenagers pointed a gun at him and demanded he give up his iPhone and Apple AirPod earphones, according to a statement from the Watsonville Police Department.
The teenagers ran away and the man ran home to call police. He checked his iPhone's location about an hour after officers took a report about the incident and updated police with his phone's location.

Officers identified and stopped the car near Ramsay Park, police said. The jogger identified the teens, who were arrested and booked into juvenile hall, police said. Police recovered the jogger's items.
The gun was not in the car, but another teen who was not involved was in the car, police said. He was released after police learned he was not involved.

"As for the victim, he did everything right from the start-- he complied with the armed robbers’ demands, called the police, and continued working with us until the thieves were caught," police said. "But most importantly, he walked away uninjured!"
A victim of an armed robbery helped officers track down two suspects who robbed him at gunpoint.
About an hour after the initial report was taken, the victim was able to update officers with the current location of his stolen iPhone.
