Be Kind to Animals Week Inspires One-of-a-Kind Kindness Project

A county program CAPE invites submissions of mini essays about kindness to animals for online TV show.

Be Kind to Animals Week is just around the corner and Scotts Valley-based Center for Animal Protection and Education wants to hear about your love for your pet through poetic verse.

Although May 6-12 is the week recognized as one to be kind to your furry friends, CAPE “believes kindness toward all living beings should happen every day of the year.”

So in an effort to honor all animals and people’s relationships with them, the organization has launched the “Be Kind to Animals Project,” and is inviting submissions of essays that are 10 words or less about kindness to animals, such as this one: Kindness toward all living beings-the ultimate gift.

"All animals depend on the kindness of humans to prevent them from suffering," said JP Novic, executive director of CAPE. "Be Kind to Animals Week is a time to highlight our relationships with other species and to delve into our commitments to providing a safe and compassionate world for them. We are hoping children and adults will submit their essays and we can't wait to read and share them all."

As a part of the project, CAPE will include all submitted essays in a special episode of the online TV show “Animal Eyes,” which will premier during Be Kind to Animals Week.
