The Charter Cable Challenge: Local Writes of His Cable Frustration In Santa Cruz County

Where is the promised On Demand? We, in Capitola and Aptos, deserve better.

Every subscriber of Charter Cable in Capitola and Aptos must be asking the same question.

When will Charter provide full On Demand?

Charter does a good job with Wi-Fi and a fair offering for TV. Their tech support is good, and they would like to be viewed as a premier cable company.

I subscribed more than two years ago, and was told, “Yes, you have ‘On Demand.’”

So I passed on satellite and went for the cable. When I could not access On Demand, I called Charter and they said it was not offered for Capitola, but it would “be coming soon.” Oops- again, it has been two years.

In fairness, satellite does not offer fast Wi-Fi, so cable was my first choice. I subscribe to Comcast in another location, and I assumed that the service was comparable. I was wrong, but in view of the Wi-Fi, I have stayed with Charter.

On Demand is not offered, and the package price is the same, if you get the service or not. As a customer, I am not looking to reduce my bill. I want the only cable company available to step up and provide the service that all other carriers provide.

Last time I checked, Capitola and the rest of the service area that Charter serves is not a rural area with a small population. I think we deserve better. If they can’t do it perhaps some competition brought to the market will be a good thing.

Tell us what you think and let the CEO of Charter know.
