City of Watsonville Receives Clean Air Leader Award

Reaffirming our commitment for us, our children and the environment!

TAKE A DEEP BREATH | Even if just for a moment, and know that the City of Watsonville is working hard to achieve our best environmental quality and create a climate for climate progress. The City was honored in June at the Monterey Bay Air Resources District's 2017 Clean Air Leader Awards in the Climate Change Advocate category for our community-wide green house gas emissions reductions and our City-led energy efficiency projects including the implementation of LEDS and solar. This award comes on the heels of Mayor Rios joining the Global Covenant of Climate Mayors and the Watsonville City Council consenting to uphold the goals of the Paris Agreement.

City Manager Charles Montoya believes that "with this acknowledgement, the City is reaffirming our commitment for us, our children and the environment." We know there's more to be done and we want to encourage our residents, businesses and collaborative agencies to advocate with renewed hope and renewable energy!
